At First Steps Pregnancy Support, we believe that birth and parenting education should be accessible to everyone and that women should be well informed as they approach birth and motherhood.
As a multidisciplinary team of professionals, First Steps Birthing has developed a comprehensive and informative birth and parenting education program to ensure that you begin motherhood feeling capable and confident.

BIRTH
onset of labour; anatomy & physiology of birth; birth skills/active birthing; understanding & managing pain; the role of your support person; medical care in labour; types of birth; informed consent; perineal tears; postpartum recovery, coping with unexpected outcomes
BREASTFEEDING
the first few hours; benefits to maternal & infant health/wellbeing; techniques & positions; troubleshooting; managing mastitis; adjuncts to breastfeeding
BABY
the 4th trimester; adjusting to life outside the womb; normal variations in needs & patterns; normal worries; when your baby is sick; first aid for babies
BEYOND
mental health for Mums and Dads; self care; protecting your relationship; legal basics relevant to early parenting & separation; writing a will; parenting beyond the newborn phase; bonding
